Meet Our Family Engagement Officer

Hello, I'm Melissa James, your Family Engagement Officer. My job is to provide support to parents, children, and families for any concerns they may have related to supporting their children at home or in school. I have been working at this school for the past ten years and have experience as a teaching assistant from reception to year 6. I am also a qualified HLTA and have covered classes before becoming an FEO.

I understand that life can be complicated at times, and I am here to listen and help with any worries or queries, no matter how big or small. I'm available daily to the children to discuss any concerns or worries they may have and provide strategies and support to help them overcome any difficulties. I work closely with outside agencies that can help and support the children.

I am passionate about well-being and use a variety of strategies to provide well-being support. I will do my best to help you, and if it's beyond my expertise, I will seek advice and guidance and pass on my findings as quickly as possible.

I want to work closely with parents and carers and would welcome suggestions for groups or activities that could support the children and their families, so please get in touch!

A crucial part of my role is to support attendance and punctuality, which is vital to school life. I am keen to improve attendance levels, so if you have any suggestions or concerns, please feel free to discuss them with me.

If you need advice or just want to chat, please ask the office staff to contact me or come see me when I'm around the school at the beginning or end of the day.
